Children's Short Break Services
Short residential breaks for children aged 6–18 with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
About this service
Bluezone Children Short Break Services provides short residential care for children aged 6 to 18 with complex emotional and behavioural needs — giving young people a safe, nurturing place to relax, have fun and build skills, while offering families a vital break from their caring role.
Our regulated children's homes are risk-assessed with regular health and safety checks to ensure the premises are safe and welcoming. There is at least one Residential Support Worker in the home at any given time, so children who stay with us can rely on the support of a trusted adult 24/7. External CCTV is in operation outside the property to keep both children and staff safe.
Our short-break home is furnished beautifully, with comfortable communal areas where children are encouraged to relax and play together. There are plenty of fun activities available — games consoles, board games, toys and access to Netflix — and we're always planning fun things to do outside the home, from days out to trips into the community.
The purpose of the service is twofold: to give children and young people a regular opportunity to spend time away from their parents, relaxing with friends and accessing community activities for social integration in the same way as their peers; and to give parents a chance to unwind, catch up with everyday tasks, attend to their own wellbeing and the needs of their other children, and maintain their social networks.
From the point of referral we work in partnership with families, carers, commissioners, stakeholders and the young person themselves to identify the most suitable placement, ensuring it fully meets their requirements and provides the best level of support.
"Having a safe, nurturing home and the support of adults who truly care can make all the difference to a child who has experienced disruption in their lives."
